This is a summary of a discussion which was had at the Rural Wisdom Get-together in Galasheils in August on the need for positive risk-taking to allow people living in rural areas to get access to the support they want.
We are hearing about people living in rural areas who feel that other people are making decisions that are intended to keep people safe but have the effect of reducing their independence and creating problems.
This is an issue that affects many people who need some extra help – older people living in towns as well as rural areas and younger people as well as older people. But it is a particular problem for older people in rural areas.
