Support Choices is a project that helps people living in Perth and Kinross get the social care and support that they need. One of the things we have been doing is getting people together to talk about are and share information.
On Friday 23 August, the Support Choices team for Highland Perthshire hosted ‘How Does Highland Perthshire Care?’ in Aberfeldy Town Hall. The event was supported by the Rural Wisdom project and The Care and Wellbeing Cooperative and featured a wide range of stalls by statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations and community groups all keen to provide individuals in the area information on the services available to them. The event also provided an opportunity for organisations to network with one another.
[The best bit about the event was] ‘’The opportunity to network with other agencies and to provide information / clarify procedures with people who may require services’’
The event included a soup lunch which was provided by The Old Filling Station. The informal lunch in the Lesser Hall gave people a chance to chat and share care experiences.
“Very information friendly, well organised and lovely people”
During the day there were demonstrations of chair-based exercise and healing hands with some people receiving complementary Shiatsu massage.
The event proved to be a success with good feedback from both the organisations and groups who attended as well as individuals seeking out are information.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in making the event such a success! We hope to have a repeat event sometime in the not too distant future.
