We were pleased to welcome six hardy but willing folk to our open event yesterday to discuss the possibility of taking forward the idea around developing a Hub for Older People in Brechin at the glorious Brechin Cathedral Hall.

Discussions over a cuppy identified more groups operating than we thought all over different areas of Brechin with the over-riding issue that no-one knows where they are or what they offer, so communication and information are paramount so that we can ensure that older people in the area know where to go to find this information as a single point of access.

To take this forward, Shona (our North Angus Rural Wisdom worker), in agreement with those in attendance, suggested that a small short term working group comes together to visit other similar projects nearby in Montrose and Kirriemuir to find out what they do. The group will then come back early in the New Year to share their findings more widely with other community group organisers and volunteers.

Eric, Mary, Norma and Sarah, along with Shona, will be meeting up for one or two trips in the near future. Eric has kindly agreed to source the mini-bus and be our driver for the day.

We’re looking forward to meeting up with and learning from some of our neighbour communities.
